Where are they?????????
For the last year I have spent nearly all the time thinking about words and letters. Why? Because I have chosen 'words in art' as the title of my final degree show.
This got me to thinking about the pronunciation of words and how we correct our children to not drop their 'H's and 'T's. But then my mind goes further than it should and I began to wonder where all these dropped letters go. I imagine them on the pavement invisible to humans - but there. Is this why we trip on pavements, but there's nothing there? Are they dropped behind the cushions on the settee, lying in the folds all hairy and dusty?
There must be dozens of them at football matches, are they responsible for missed penalties? Are they the reason your glass tips over in the pub as you put down your pint?
Do you know where they go? If you have any ideas that would help the project grow please let me know. Draw me a sketch, write me a few words, with your help we can start to rehabilitate these letters back into the community and back into conversation.

Hi there Alison - good luck with your project. I think the letters are hiding with the odd socks and teaspoons. Anne x
ReplyDeleteDefinately one in my stuff drawer that holds the draw closed when I am trying to open it!!! x
ReplyDeleteMine must be eaten by the washing machine - it certainly eats the socks so they can't hide there ..... or perhaps they are silently auctioned!
ReplyDeleteI think they emigrate. Possibly to Germany where words are far too long and don't have enough vowels to pronounce them easily.
ReplyDeleteAlternatively, they may go to Wales for the same reason.
